Nobility Documents of Lithuanian "Noble" Families

Example: Michnevičius Nobility Document dated 4 April 1902 (in Russian)

 


In 1996, I obtained the following "nobility document" from Lietuvos Valstybės Istorijos Archyvas (LVIA) (Lithuanian State Historical Archives) in Vilnius, Lithuania.  It was for the Michnevičius family of my maternal grandfather, and shows the male lineage starting with a Nikolajus Michnevičius and a 1711 event. The third page of the document is a chart that summarizes the male lineage that is described in the text of the document.  With respect to my own ancestors on this chart:

SUMMARY TRANSLATION


Statement of Vilnius Noble Deputy Meeting in 1829.

The property right to Nikolajus (1), son of Stanislovas Michnevičius, concerning his purchased estates Padubysis-Taručiai-Vilaičiai with the peasants, was approved in the Land court of Samogitia principality on April 16, 1711. Those estates were inherited by Kazimieras (2), son of Nikolajus (1), and were given by Kazimieras (2) to his son Jokūbas (3) on March 21, 1739.  Jokūbas (3) sold part of Taručiai-Vilaičiai estate to unauthorized persons on March 8, 1779, and gave another part of Vilaičiai estate to his son Juozas (4) on January 27, 1792.

 

The nobility of the Michnevičius family was recognized by the Vilnius and Kaunas gubernia Nobility Deputy Assembly on April 23, 1798, November 29, 1838, January 26, 1855; and added persons were recognized on March 14, 1872, September 15, 1876, December 16, 1900, and November 6, 1901. 

 

Juozas (4) was the son of Jokūbas (3), who was the son of Kazimieras (2), who was the son of Nikolajus (1), who was the son of Stanislovas.

Juozas (4) had sons Juozas Raimundas (5) (baptized February 29, 1796) and Adomas Karolis (6) (baptized January 3, 1803).

Juozas Raimundas (5) had sons Leonas Antanas (7) (baptized September 9, 1816) and Ignotas (8) (baptized February 17, 1818) and Anupras (9) (baptized March 25, 1823) and Antanas (10) (baptized October 30, 1830).

Leonas Antanas (7) had sons Adolfas Lukas (11) (baptized October 20, 1841) and Liudvikas (12) (baptized July 9, 1850).

Ignotas (8) had sons Vincentas (13) (baptized January 3, 1845) and Leonas Pranas (14) (baptized November 3, 1846) and Juozas Pranas (15) (baptized December 17, 1867).

Leonas Pranas (14) had sons Vitoldas (19) (baptized October 16, 1885) and Česlovas (20) (baptized September 10, 1889) and Mečislovas (21) (baptized February 17, 1892) and Pranas (22) (baptized February 17, 1892) and Bronislovas (23) (baptized June 13, 1895) and Cezaris (24) (baptized September 11, 1900).

Antanas (10) had sons Vincentas (16) (baptized March 29, 1863) and Jonas (17) (baptized July 14, 1864) and Aleksandras (18) (baptized April 2, 1870).
